Apply online
This page contains online forms for both first-time and returning applicants. The following information explains what happens once the application has been received.
The Foundation undertakes an initial review of the project, after which the applicant will either be contacted for further information, or receive notification that the project does not meet the Foundation’s criteria. The initial response will be sent within 4-6 weeks. Unsuccessful candidates will receive brief feedback on why their applications have been turned down, and they are welcome to re-apply, though they should wait 12 months before doing so.
Successful applicants are invited to meet with the Foundation’s manager who will help to shape the content and structure of the application so that, as far as possible, proposed locations and objectives align with the Foundation’s priorities. During the discussion opportunities will be identified where Anglo employee volunteers might become involved in the project.
The final stage of the process is for applicants to meet with the board of trustees who will agree on the level of funding to be given. As a general guide, first-time grants are unlikely to be over £50,000.
Once projects are underway, partners will be required to provide progress reports on a regular basis, based on objectives that have been developed with input from the Foundation. Project information is featured in the Foundation’s reports and in the Anglo American plc’s Annual Report and Report to Society. These reports also help to guide the Foundation’s strategies on an ongoing basis.
